The broad objective of KWFT is to access financial and non-financial services to women with small
and micro enterprises to enable them develop their businesses, increase
income and generate employment. The services include:

Working capital loans.

Consumer loans provided to the existing clients to cater for school fees
and emergencies such as hospital bills and fire at business premises.

KWFT encourages women to organize themselves into groups and to organize
their own self help activities so as to support one another in all ways.
They are also encouraged to save for future needs.

KWFT Targeted Borrowers
KWFT will continue to serve low-income women. A low-income client
is one who borrows less than Kshs. 20,000 (US$250) and pays within a period
of nine to twelve months (9-12 months). She is the kind of person
who will survive on less than US$ 1 a day, and supports a large family.
On the average, she is a poor woman in the rural and slum areas.
She supports a large family of 6 on less than US$1 a day. Her business
is trading on foodstuff got from a family garden or bought from neighbors.
She will have started her income generating activity in a small shopping
center nearest to her home or on her doorstep to enable her balance domestic
and business responsibilities. She spends her income on her family
food, school fees, clothes, and medical expenses.
Biashara
Credit Scheme
Women entrepreneurs organize themselves into groups of an average of
20 members. The groups then register with the Ministry of Culture
and Social Services. Loans are given to individual women through
these groups.
Special Loan's Scheme
The special loan scheme is aimed at alleviating effects of unforeseen
circumstances on the KWFT clients. The following classifications
will constitute special loans:

School Fees

Hospitalization of the client or her immediate family members. (Immediate
family members will constitute the husband and children).

Fire on the business or her residential premises.
Individual Loans
Has your business grown? Do you need additional finance? KWFT can lend
you as an individual provided that you have the capacity to secure the
loan.
Eligibility criteria

Applicant should be at least 21 years of age.

Should own a business (Registered and licensed owner)

Fire and theft insurance

Holder of a national identification card.

Be prepared to register a chattels mortgage on your business assets.
YOUTH ENTERPRISE FUND
This loan product is primarily designed for youths customers who want to start their own business but do not have capital and who were previously unable to join the current KWFT lending schemes. The credit requirments for applicants under this loan product are different from those in the Biashara Big group, Mwangaza-mini group based schemes or Mwamba-Individuals lending. Clients have to adhere to a different set of regulations. Group lending method will be used in running the youth fund
Eligibility Criteria
- The woman must be willing to start a business
- Must be between 18 and 35 years of age
- Have a national identity card
- There will be no restriction on the level of education
- Members should be living near one another in the same locality/area.
- Should be willing to form a group
- Members should be willing to co-gurantee each others loan
- The business should be viable to service a loan of between Kshs. 5,000 and 20,000.
