Kenya Women Finance Trust Launches Business Club
| 29th May 2008... Kenya Women Finance Trust (KWFT) has launched a business club that will see business women with SME's network and share experiences on business growth countrywide.
The club was launched during training for women entrepreneurs invited from all over the country. The forum's objective was networking women to assist them grow their businesses.
"We wanted to connect women in business at this forum and elsewhere while tackling the misconception that businesses run by women stagnate. This business club is open membership to any woman entrepreneur at whatever level. We also hope they find the added value that they can derive from KWFT" said Dr. Jennifer Riria, KWFT CEO.
The KWFT Business Club will operate like any other investment club with quarterly meetings. So far, the club has 28 members drawn from all the 9 regions where KWFT operates and the firm looks forward to an increased membership of over a thousand by September this year. The next meeting slated for September will deliberate on activities that club members will be participating and engaged in that will form a calendar.
The women entrepreneurs were orientated on how to assess the current strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats to their business, how well it's equipped to handle them, before moving to the next stage of building a strategy for growth.
"A strategy will help anyone in business prepare a realistic vision for the future of their business and in doing so can maximize one's business' potential for growth. We also are very keen in assisting all our clients, especially those in growth businesses to prepare influential business plans and define the steps necessary to achieve them. We want women entrepreneurs to know that once they've reviewed progress and identified the key growth areas that they want to target. It's time to revisit a business plan and make it a road map to the next stages for their business", Dr. Riria observed.
Josephine Gathoni who runs a diagnostic laboratory and who participated in the forum was particularly inspired by the training and hoped that KWFT will arise and train SME's since it has been very expensive for SME's to undertake training for their staff. "Very few of us can afford these trainings and group meetings have no learning's and experiences", she said.
"It is apparent that entrepreneurs are looking for a real partner who will recognize and support entrepreneurship spirit and that entrepreneurship spirit does not necessarily mean to access funds only. They want mentorship, life lines that they can contact when stuck in business, and KWFT is here to serve them", notes Dr. Riria.
